The kit can also be used to over-dye clothing of any color to a vibrant black. The package contains all-purpose liquid dye, Rit ColorStay Dye Fixative, and gloves. The kit complies with ASTM D 4236.

Dyeing Methods

• Stovetop method

For a vibrant and even result, we recommend the stovetop method; this involves boiling the fabric with dye in hot water.
Please be careful when using over an open flame.

• Washing machine method

For larger pieces of textile, you can use this method. Rit dyes have been used safely in washing machines for decades and will not discolor metal parts.

• Bucket method

Suitable for smaller projects such as T-shirts, sweaters, hats, and so on.

Tips & Guidelines

• Use Rit ColorStay Dye Fixative immediately after dyeing to reduce color bleeding and fading.
  
• Always test on a small piece of fabric first, as color results can be affected by existing color, fabric type, and heat.
  
• Read the instructions on the package carefully before you begin.
